St. Elizabeth teacher no longer with district following child porn charges

A St. Elizabeth teacher has been charged with two counts of possession of child pornography after being arrested last week by the Highway Patrol.

24-year-old Stephen Strobel is no longer works for the St. Elizabeth R-IV School District where he was a band teacher and track coach.

According to court documents, Strobel had pornographic digital pictures and video of a 13-year-old girl.

During the investigation, officers seized a cell phone and computer from Strobel’s home after corresponding with law enforcement in Ohio.

Strobel and the 13-year-old girl from Wayne County, Ohio sent each other nude pictures via cell phone, according to those court documents.

Strobel admitted to state troopers that he had received 15 images and videos that showed children under the age of 18, some as young as 5 years old, in various sexual acts.

Strobel said he got the pictures and video from other people via the iPhone app, Kik.

He also used this app to send pictures showing children to other people.

Strobel is being held in the Miller County Jail on $500,000 bond.

Strobel will make his next appearance in court on June 23 for a preliminary hearing.

Parents and students were promptly notified about the situation.
