Two in Columbia arrested for pot, meth, guns

A man and woman were arrested Monday night just before midnight by Boone County deputiesafter a traffic stop yielded drugs and drug paraphernalia.

When deputies stopped the driver at the intersection of Clark Lane and the Hwy. 63 connector, they recognized him and knew he was currently on parole. They also knew he had a revoked license.

Deputies noticed the smell of marijuana coming from inside the car and saw the driver, 35-year-old Lester Johnson, was wearingan empty handgun holster.

Deputies found one loaded handgun under each front seat, methamphetamine, marijuana, drug packaging material, drug paraphernalia,electronic scales, and $1000 in cash while searching the car.

Johnson was arrested for distribution of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm, and driving with a suspended license.

Johnson’s passenger, 27-year-old Stephanie Botts, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.
