Grocery store to reopen after asbestos discovery

A central Missouri grocery store will reopen nearly a month after it was closed down due to asbestos.

County Market Grocery Store in Mexico, Mo. plans to reopen around noon Tuesday. The Audrain County Health Department conducted a pre-opening and an opening inspection of the store and the business passed both inspections.

In early November, the county health department received calls from people concerned about dust in the store from renovations. Further tests showed asbestos was in the floor tiles, but air samples came back negative.

Since then, most of the perishable or contaminated items have been destroyed.
