Black Friday starting Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving Day is a holiday often thought of as sitting around with family and friends eating turkey. It is now quickly becoming a day where family and friends sit around outside of a store waiting for the doors to open.

“It is cold. You have to come prepared. Other than that though I wanted to do it at least once in my lifetime,” said Danny Prather, a Thanksgiving shopper.

Prather is one of thousands Thursday night ready to get the bargains, but has to pay the price of waiting in line to do so.

“I brought a few blankets, hanging out, and meeting a few people,” said Prather.

Making new friends seemed to be a trend among shoppers Thursday, despite what is sometime thought of as an angry stampede of determined shoppers.

Macy’s, Target, and J.C. Penney are all open Thanksgiving night for the first time this year.

This causes some to worry the trend of Black Friday starting on Thursday will grow, and Thanksgiving could change entirely.

“All of the holidays are encroaching on each other. Now with the Black Friday encroaching on Thanksgiving it is kind of bad,”said shopper Casey Woodruff.
