Mid-MO Alcohol Enforcement

Mid-Missouri law enforcement agencies have released the results of a special alcohol enforcement.Between March 14th-17th, the Columbia Police Department took part in a statewide impaired driving crackdown. During that time period, six intoxicated drivers were arrested.On the 16th, a sobriety checkpoint was set up in the 4300 block of Clark Lane. During the checkpoint, 368 motorists were stopped. Two people were arrested for driving while intoxicated, two people were arrested for possession of marijuana, one person was arrested for driving on a suspended license and three minors were arrested for possession of alcohol.In Cole County, Sheriff’s deputies were out over the St. Patrick’s Day weekend to focus on intoxicated drivers and moving violations. Deputies made 138 traffic stops that included three DWI arrests, two driving while suspended arrests, eight summons for speed, and one narcotics violation.Law enforcement also issued two citations for a bar that remained open after hours.
