2 Mobile Homes Destroyed in Fire

Two empty mobile homes were destroyed in a five acre fire on Kings Bluff Drive in Eugine around 1 p.m. on Monday.About 20 Cole County firefighters worked the scene for four hours. The windy and dry weather made it difficult to get under control.”Some of the flames were about 20 feet high. Our biggest problem was the strong wind, it caused the flames to spread to the woods,” Cole County Fire Department Captain Steve Barnes said.According to Barnes, they are still investigating the cause of the fire. “Both mobile homes have been empty for years and have no electricity or anything else hooked up to them so it’s unknown what exactly sparked the fire,” Barnes said. The Cole County Fire Department is asking anyone who may have seen anything suspcicous in the area to contact them.
