Crews to start improvements on Nifong Boulevard in Columbia

Construction is set to start Wednesday on a pedestrian island on Nifong Boulevard in Columbia.

The City of Columbia announced in a news release that Cook Concrete plans to start upgrades to the road and crosswalk at Nifong Boulevard and Woods Edge Road.

The upgrades include a flashing beacon and pedestrian island. Construction is scheduled Aug. 1-13 and striping by Aug. 20.

This work is part of the Nifong Intersections Improvement project approved by the city council on Oct. 16, 2017.
