Tracking heat indexes near the triple digits on Tuesday

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and warm with lows in the upper 60s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny with late day clouds and highs in the lower 90s. Heat indexes between 98-100°.

EXTENDED: Tomorrow will be a bit more humid but just as hot, with a forecast high of 94°. Tomorrow's record is 95, and I'm tracking a heat index around 100°. A slow moving cold front sets up across far northern Missouri tomorrow, with showers and storms developing along it by late afternoon into the evening. Storms are expected to slowly sink south along with the boundary, and there may be a few strong wind gusts at the onset along the leading edge of the first batch of storms with enough instability for a low end severe threat for a few hours. There's a level 1/5 severe risk from the SPC for areas along and north of the Missouri River. Waves of rain and storms will continue on Wednesday and Thursday as the front eventually lifts back north as a warm front before the attendant cold front moves quickly behind on Thursday afternoon to bring an end to showers and storms Thursday night. I'm still expecting rain amounts area wide to be in the 2-2.5" range. Temperatures rapidly drop off, with lows near 50° on Friday morning. The weekend is looking cool and sunny with highs in the 60s on Saturday and near 70° on Sunday, with morning lows around 40°; possibly upper 30s in valleys.
