West Broadway Walmart closed after apparent water main break

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Walmart on West Broadway in Columbia was closed Monday, and a worker told ABC 17 News that a water main break was responsible.

The parking lot appeared to be empty at about 11:30 a.m. A worker in a reflective vest told an ABC 17 News reporter that the store was closed "until further notice" because of a water main break.

"The safety of our associates and customers is our top priority. We're working to resolve the issue and reopen the store as soon as possible," a Walmart spokesperson said.

An ABC 17 News reporter was at the store around 3:30 p.m. and it was still closed. The reporter also noticed that online pickup through the Walmart app for the Broadway location was "full" until Thursday.

Columbia has three Walmart stores, with other locations on Grindstone Parkway in the southern part of the city and Conley Road in the northeast part of Columbia.

Shoppers can also check Walmart's store closure website for updates.
