KMIZ

LEXINGTON, Ky. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou softball team captured a much-needed big time offensive win over No. 12 Kentucky on Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers dominated at the plate from start to finish, as MU run-ruled the Wildcats 13-0 in five innings. Fifth-year senior Kimberly Wert was, once again, the star of the show for Mizzou. In the first two innings alone, she hit a three-run homer off the foul pole and a grand slam, totaling up to seven RBI.

Emma Raabe was the only other Tiger to homer on Saturday, but five players total recorded hits against Kentucky.

Pitcher Jordan Weber tossed a complete game for MU, going the full five innings with seven strikeouts and no runs allowed.

Up next - Mizzou will continue the series against No. 12 Kentucky on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. in Lexington.
