Police investigating armed carjacking in Jefferson City, chase through Ashland reached over 100 mph

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Jefferson City police responded to the 700 block of W. Stadium Blvd. Wednesday morning to investigate an armed carjacking. The victim told police there were two suspects, one of them had a gun and demanded the keys to the vehicle.

The victim was able to provide a direction of travel to the police.

An Ashland officer spotted the vehicles coming from Jefferson city as they went through the city and pursued the vehicles. The officer ended the chase when one of the vehicles tried to run the officer off the road.

Officials report the chase reached speeds in excess of 100 mph.

Officials report Columbia police chased the vehicles as they came into the city.

The victim was not injured.

Lt. David Williams says Jefferson City Police is expected to put out more information on the chase at a later time.
