Mizzou softball gets first SEC win of the season over South Carolina

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou softball team captured its first conference win of the season in a 4-2 victory over the South Carolina Gamecocks on Friday night.

It was a big night for MU in more ways than one, as the Kim Wert solidified her spot as the program's all-time home run leader. The super senior knocked out her 48th career home run in the fifth inning.

Sophomore Laurin Krings tossed a complete game for the Tigers with nine strikeouts and just two runs allowed.

Up next - Mizzou will continue the series against the Gamecocks on Saturday at 4 p.m.
