Man arrested on multiple warrants after standoff in north Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia police arrested a man after he barricaded himself in a residence in north Columbia on Tuesday morning.

Jeff Pitts, public information officer with Columbia police says, detectives with Columbia police were looking for Jesse Jenkins on the 200 block of Dillon Drive who was wanted for outstanding warrants and multiple connections to theft investigations.

Once detectives found him at 9:40 a.m., Jenkins barricaded himself inside a residence, according to Pitts.

After Jenkins' barricaded himself in the residence, Pitts says SWAT and crisis negotiators responded to the scene of the residence and SWAT set up a perimeter to keep area residents safe.

At 1:30 p.m. Jenkins surrendered to authorities and was taken into custody says Pitts.

Officials say no one was hurt.

Jenkins was arrested for several felony arrest warrants and had probable cause for arrest in relation to numerous theft investigations.
