Improved drought conditions in mid-Missouri

The updated United States Drought Monitor shows improved drought conditions through southern mid-Missouri. Last week we saw abnormally dry conditions in Benton, Morgan, Camden, Miller, Maries, Phelps, and Pulaski counties.

This past weekend’s heavy rain event help erase these drought conditions for all southern mid-Missouri counties. Areas from the Lake of the Ozarks to the south central part of the state saw rainfall totals in excess of 3″ thanks to Saturday’s storm system. With less rainfall accumulation to the north, northern Macon county is still under abnormally dry conditions.

Even more rain is expected in mid-Mo as we head through this weekend. There is a chance for isolated showers all the way through Sunday. For both Friday and Saturday, areas south of I-70 see a better chance of rain. These areas, around the Lake of the Ozarks, can expect the heaviest rainfall accumulation, stacking anywhere up to 0.75″.
