Escaped inmate back in Phelps County custody

An inmate has been captured after escaping custody in mid-Missouri.

According to the Phelps County Sheriff’s Department, Michael Schultz was arrested in Jefferson County on Wednesday.

Deputies said he walked away from a supervised work crew on Tuesday and got into a truck.

The driver of the truck, Cole White, and Mary Dames were also arrested for aiding the escape of a prisoner.
