Kansas City employee dies, 2 hurt in garbage truck wreck

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — A Kansas City worker died and two others were critically injured when a trash truck they were in crashed and caught fire. The crash happened Tuesday morning on Interstate 435 in northeast Kansas City. Police Sgt. Bill Mahoney said the driver of the truck lost control while trying to exit onto Front Street. Investigators said the truck hit a concrete barrier and caught fire. KSHB-TV reports one city worker died at the scene and the two others were hospitalized, one in serious condition and one in critical condition.
