Woman pleads guilty in death of Missouri man and his son
MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. (AP) — A 25-year-old St. Louis woman pleaded guilty to several charges related to the 2018 stabbing death of a suburban St. Louis man and his 22-month-old son. The St. Louis County prosecutor’s office said Monday that Onyai Turner admitted her involvement in the stabbing deaths of Malcom Mathis II and his son, Malcom Mathis III, in Maryland Heights. An adult woman and a 4-year-old girl were also wounded in the attack. Turner’s boyfriend, Traveon Sims, was sentenced to life in prison without parole after pleading guilty to two counts of first-degree murder last year. Sims was Mathis’ nephew. Prosecutors said the attack occurred because Mathis had kicked Sims out of the family home.
