Mizzou softball goes 4-1 through Mary Nutter Classic

KMIZ

CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou softball team came out on the other side of the annual Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic with two top-15 victories and a close loss to No. 6 UCLA.

On Friday, MU topped No. 9 Oregon 6-2 courtesy of a big performance for the Tiger bats. Brooke Wilmes and Kendyll Bailey both had two RBI and Jefferson City native Kara Daly had two hits.

Mizzou also dominated No. 5 Washington on Saturday, as the Tigers run-ruled Huskies, 10-0, in five innings.

The weekend did end with a loss to No. 6 UCLA, but the Tigers still showed up big, courtesy of a late rally from the MU bats, which made it a two-run ball game. In the end, Mizzou could not come out with the win.

Up next - head coach Larissa Anderson's group will open up the home schedule on March 4 in a matchup against St. Thomas.
