Boone Health to open new COVID-19 testing site on Monday
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Boone Health will open a new COVID-19 testing site Monday at its Convenient Care location on Nifong Boulevard.
This location will only administer COVID-19 tests. The testing site at 900 W. Nifong Blvd. will be open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
In order to get tested at this location, patients will need to be experiencing symptoms of COVID-19. Individuals will also need to bring a photo ID and insurance card, if possible.
At the testing site, patients will be given a medical-grade mask which is required to be worn at all times. Boone Health asks patients to social distance when possible at the location.
Rising COVID-19 Boone County Cases
According to Boone County's COVID-19 Information Hub, there has been a recent spike in COVID-19 cases. Boone County currently has 3,261 active COVID-19 cases, according to the hub.
The county has recently seen an increase in COVID-19 cases as seen below in the graph. Last Thursday, Boone County reported 758 positive test results compared to 120 positive cases a month prior.
Within the past 14 days, the 40 to 44-year-old age group has seen the most positive cases with a case rate of 3,024.8 cases per 100,000 people. Boone County has a population of over 180,000 people according to the most recent census data.
The 80+ age group has seen the lowest rate of cases within the past 14 days according to the dashboard.
MU Health Care is also opening a new COVID-19 testing site at its Women's Hospital on Keene Street Tuesday due to an increase in demand for testing.
The testing site will be open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on weekends from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
MU Health Care says the new site will replace the current test collection site along West Broadway.
