Columbia Regional Airport passenger traffic up passes 2020 numbers

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

As the holiday season and travel bounces back from the pandemic, Columbia Regional Airport has passed the number of travelers that flew in 2020 with November and December still to come.

Compared to all of 2020, COU already has a 19% increase in passengers for 2021.

However, it is nowhere near the pre-pandemic levels of 2019.

In 2019, the total number of passengers flying was 265,592, then in 2020, during the pandemic, numbers dropped down to 102,956. This year, the number of travelers currently sits at 122,984.

So far, the airport has reported $253,136.59 lodging tax has been collected from the airport without August, September and October not reporting. In 2020, the airport collected $370,254.80 and in 2019 $493,155.05 was collected.
