Tracking fewer storms today, triple-digit heat

THIS AFTERNOON: Sunny, with highs in the mid-90s. The heat index could reach as high as 104. A pop-up storm is possible near I-44, but most stay dry.

TONIGHT: Mostly clear, with warm temperatures in the 80s through sunset. Lows fall to the lower 70s.

EXTENDED: A Heat Advisory remains in effect through Saturday evening for many counties south of I-70 for a heat index above 100 degrees. Rain chances will return on Sunday, but our cold front and cooldown will be slow, with a low chance of reaching 90 on Sunday afternoon. Showers and storms will last throughout Monday, pulling temperatures down to the 80s, and we'll settle in the upper 70s with drier weather by the middle of next week.
