Tracking afternoon showers with a cool down ahead

Today: Scattered showers will continue to push towards Central Missouri this afternoon. Brief downpours will be the main threat today with showers moving out by 7 pm. The afternoon high today tops out at 60 degrees with winds out of the northwest at 10-15 mph.

Tonight: Temperatures continue to drop as cloud cover moves to the east. The overnight low drops to 41 degrees with winds out of the northwest calming to 5-10 mph.

Extended: A high-pressure system sets up this weekend to keep us below average for temperatures and sunny skies. Winds will continue to be breezy in the 10-15 mph range once again. Monday and Tuesday the temperatures slightly increase to the lower '70s. By Wednesday another cold front brings in the possibility for scattered showers. This leads to cooler temperatures next Thursday and Friday with winds returning out of the north.
