Officials are saying there is no threat of terrorist attacks in Missouri

Columbia, MO- Senator Claire McCaskill stopped by a Boone County Elementary School today.

While she was there she discussed the recent attacks on Belgium. “I just hope we stay calm and realize that if we are united with our allies and we work together the many, thousands of patriotic, American Muslims, we’re going to be much safer in the long run and we are going to defeat Isis sooner.”

Although McCaskill is not afraid, people who have to use public transportation were still a little uneasy. Donna Stallings was sending her daughter off on vacation. She was worried about her safety on the Amtrak, “I have to admit there is always some anxiety because she’s only seventeen but to hear about the bombing last night and again early this morning in the news made me a little bit more anxious. I actually thought abut cancelling her trip.”

ABC17 reached out to the staff of Amtrak, who said they were taking extra precautions to keep their passengers protected.

McCaskill had no plans of changing her transportation methods due to the attack, “I will roll to the grocery store this weekend like I always do, driving my car and carrying my bags.”

President Obama also addressed the attacks today and said defeating ISIS is one of his top priorities.
