Dew points On The Rise for Monday
As Mid-Missouri continues to receive warm, moist, tropical air from the Southeast, dew points will stay high. What does this mean for us? Unfortunately this indicates uncomfortable conditions ahead.
The dew point is the temperature that air must be cooled for saturation to occur. So, for example, if the dew point and the temperature are equal, the water vapor in the air will turn into liquid.
Dew point is indicative of how much water vapor is in the air. The higher the dew point, the more moisture exists in the air. Lower dew points correspond with drier conditions.
When dew points creep above 65, the air begins to feel thick. “Soupy” is a good way to describe it. And that’s exactly how its going to feel this Monday and Tuesday, where dew points will be getting into the 71-75 degree range, resulting in oppressive conditions. Some areas could even see dew points above 76 degrees, putting them in the “miserable” category.
