Columbia City Council set to vote on intersection improvements
The Columbia City Council approved more than $100,000 of improvements at the Worely Street and Clinkscales Road intersection in central Columbia.
Daniel Glosson lives just down the street from the intersection. He said it gets congested during peak times of the day. “In the morning traffic can get backed up or if I come home early from work sometimes in the evening when school’s letting out for the day, it will get really backed up at the other side of the intersection,” said Glosson.
Many homeowners near the Worely and Clinkscales intersection said the same thing. The intersection is packed with cars for much of the day.
The Columbia City Council voted to make nearly $150,000 of improvements to the intersection Monday night. The city will put crosswalks on all sides of the intersection, audible pedestrian signals with countdown timers and flashing yellow left turn arrows on Worely.
The improvements will also bring the intersection up to current Americans with Disabilities regulations. The project will be paid for by community development block grant funds.
