Columbia Regional Airport addresses TSA screening issues
Today, Columbia city leaders said they will be bringing in a TSA member to look over the protocol of airport screening, but they aren’t sure when that will be.
They said they want the TSA members to go over why there were so many failures at security checkpoints and see if any of those causes apply to the Columbia Regional Airport.
A big issue city leaders discussed was the possibility of these failures happening during shift changes.
“At Columbia, it’s a busy airport, but it’s small enough that the people who work there know who belongs, who doesn’t belong and it’s enough of a family situation that we know who is working there and what kind of character they have,” said Steven Faber, who is on the Airport Advisory Board.
Faber said before any changes are made the Columbia Regional Airport will have to find out why exactly TSA agents failed 95 percent of the screening tests.
