Jefferson City police arrest man accused of exposing self to child in city park
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
Jefferson City police said Wednesday that they arrested a suspect accused of exposing himself to a child in a park bathroom.
Officers were called at about 11 a.m. Tuesday to Ellis Porter Riverside Park on a report of a man who had exposed himself to a child in the women's bathroom, according to a Jefferson City Police Department news release. The caller told police the man left the park in a black SUV.
Officers located the suspect -- a registered sex offender -- at home Tuesday afternoon and arrested him, according to the release. Police say the man admitted exposing himself in the bathroom and leaving the park in a black SUV.
Officers arrested the man on suspicion of being a sex offender at a public park and sexual misconduct involving a child.
Prosecutors filed a charge of sexual misconduct involving a child under 15 against Shane R. Steck, 41, of Jefferson City on Wednesday. He was jailed without bond. No lawyer was listed for Steck in online court records.
