MONDAY UPDATES: Boone County nearing 50,000 residents to receive first dose of coronavirus vaccine

The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services is reporting seven new COVID-19 cases. There are currently 81 active cases in the county.

The county now has a reported total number of COVID-19 cases of 17,781.

The county has reported the total number of cases removed from isolation is 17,616.

The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services dashboard has reported the latest five-day average as 11.

The dashboard is reporting the positivity rate of 11% for the week of March 4 through March 11. The last week's positivity rate is 11.9% for March 12 through last Thursday.

The county continues to trend down as there have been 53 straight days of single or double-digit case increases.

The health department is reporting the total number of hospitalizations in Boone County is 26.

The number of Boone County residents hospitalized is reported to be seven.

The dashboard is reporting seven COVID-19 patients in the ICU and three patients on ventilators.

The hospital status remains in 'Green' status. 'Green' status is when hospitals are operating within licensed bed capacity; accepting patient transfers from referring hospitals within standard care operating procedures.

The State of Missouri coronavirus vaccine dashboard is reporting that 49,743 residents have received their first dose in Boone County.

The county has the largest percentage of people in Mid-Missouri that have received at least one dose of the vaccine with 27.6%.

Cole County now have the second largest with 23.7% of the population have received the first dose of the vaccine. Saline County is the third with a 23.5% of the population have received the first dose of the vaccine.

Boone County reports 84th coronavirus death

Boone County recorded another COVID-19 death over the weekend.

The death of a person 80 or older brings the county's total to 84 since the start of the pandemic last March. No other information was released about the person who died.

The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services reported seven new coronavirus cases over the weekend -- five on Saturday and two on Sunday. The new case numbers continuing a trend of decline in the county, where the five-day average of new daily cases hit 14 on Sunday. That number reached 169 in November.

Active cases stayed below 100 over the weekend, dropping by two since Friday to hit 96. The health department reported 23 patients with COVID-19 in Boone County hospitals.

More than 27% of Boone County's population has received a first dose of the coronavirus vaccination, according to state numbers. The county's rate is the third-highest in the state.

New COVID-19 cases fall below daily average

New COVID-19 cases reported in Missouri fell below the daily averages on the state health department's coronavirus dashboard.

On Monday morning, the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services reported 173 new COVID-19 cases through PCR testing and 116 probable cases through antigen testing. The dashboard reported the daily average of cases for PCR and antigen testing through the week ending on Friday were 292 and 203, respectively.

Monday's case increase was about three times fewer than Sunday's report of 609.

Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services

In a year since the pandemic started, the health department has reported 486,170 cases through PCR testing and 84,706 probable cases through antigen testing.

The department did not report any new virus-related deaths on the dashboard. Officials have confirmed 8,374 fatalities from COVID-19 over the course of the pandemic.

Missouri has reported 2,042 COVID-19 cases and seven virus-related deaths over the week ending on Friday. The dashboard said the state had the second-lowest new case rate per capita and the 9th lowest rate of deaths capita in the US.

The state's seven-day positivity rate was reported at 4.1% -- a decrease of 0.1 from the day before.

The dashboard said 22% of the state's population has initiated the vaccination process -- more than 1.35 million residents. Officials included more than 2 million total vaccine doses have been administered in the state.
