Tracking cooler few days, late-week storms and heat

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy with a few spotty storms early. Lows in the low to mid-60s.

TOMORROW: Partly to mostly sunny with an isolated shower possible early. Highs in the upper 70s to around 80 with northwest winds gusting up to 20 mph.

EXTENDED: Northwest upper level flow keeps weather around Mid-Missouri quite pleasant with lower humidity and temperatures about 5 degrees cooler than average. Late in the week, an area of high pressure builds just to our south, allowing winds to shift back south for the remainder of the work week. This will allow temperatures to rise back into the upper 80s. As a warm front works its way across the area on Friday, a few showers and thunderstorms will be possible. The weekend will present temperatures just slightly warmer than normal with daily chances of scattered storms as disturbances slide in one by one through Monday. The severe weather potential appears low at this time, but any thunderstorms will have the possibility of bringing heavy downpours. Heat indices will get into the low 90s with increasing humidity.
