Tracking scattered severe storms this afternoon and evening

THIS AFTERNOON: An ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day is in effect for severe storms in the mid-afternoon through the evening. Severe storms will develop in a line from Paris back to Marshall by 3 p.m., then move along I-70 into Columbia and Jefferson City between 5 and 7 p.m. Storms will eventually reach I-44 near sunset, with the severe threat dropping by 10 p.m. All severe hazards are possible today, including damaging winds up to 70 mph, 1-inch hail, and a few tornadoes. Scattered flash flooding is also likely, with an inch of rain expected in some spots.

TONIGHT: Spotty rain continues overnight, and temperatures fall to the upper 60s and low 70s.

EXTENDED: Scattered showers persist through Thursday, with rain heading south of I-70 as the day wears on. An additional few tenths of an inch of rainfall is possible. Friday clears out, and temperatures climb into the mid-80s with plenty of sunshine to enjoy before another wet weekend. Storm chances return by late Saturday, and widespread rain is expected early Father's Day on Sunday.
