Mizzou softball drops series to No. 20 LSU; loses second straight

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Despite taking an early lead, head coach Larissa Anderson and her Tigers fell in game to to No. 20 LSU, 16-4.

Mizzou held the visitors scoreless in the top of the first, which allowed them to take a lead in the following frame. Addy Waits started the rally with a lead off double in the bottom half of the opening inning. She came home just a few batters later thanks to an Abby Hay single. The scoring streak continued with an Abby Carr two run home run to put the Tigers up 3-0 after one.

However, Mizzou sputtered on both sides of the ball from there. LSU clawed back with a home run in the second to cut the lead to two, and another long shot in the top of the third to tie the game. The Baton Rouge Tigers scored in every inning from the second on, homering in four of the last six innings.

The home side managed to get one back in the bottom of the fifth to make it a 7-4 ballgame, but LSU's onslaught continued, as they would score four more in the sixth, and five in the seventh to burry Mizzou 16-4, and secure the series win.

Up Next - Mizzou and LSU are set for game three on Saturday, April, 4. First pitch between the two Tigers is set for 2:30 p.m.
