Tracking a big warmup today, even warmer weekend

THIS AFTERNOON: Mostly sunny and mild, with highs in the upper 60s and low 70s. Winds from the west will be light at 5 to 10 mph.

TONIGHT: Clear and not as cold, with temperatures dropping into the 50s after sunset. Lows fall to the 40s.

EXTENDED: Warmer weather will settle in the rest of the week, with highs increasing to the 70s on Thursday and Friday. Our warmup peaks on Saturday in the low 80s, about 25 degrees above normal for this time of year, and closer to Mid-Missouri averages in late May. However, a cold front is expected to bring a dry and gradual cooldown through early next week. Temperatures will likely reach the 70s on Sunday ahead of the front, then highs drop to the 50s and 60s on Monday and Tuesday.
