Mizzou Arena will get new playing surface in offseason

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
MU Athletics is now accepting bids to replace the playing surface at Mizzou Arena, over the summer.
According to a proposal obtained by ABC 17, the athletic department expects the court replacement to cost anywhere from $700,000 to $785,000.
The proposal also contained some special scheduling guidelines. The department would like the work to be complete by Aug. 14, 2026, but will not allow work to begin inside the Arena, in designated areas, until spring graduation services wrap up on May 18, 2026.
It's been about four years since the court at Mizzou Arena got an upgrade, as the athletic department upgraded the logo at center-court and changed out the color of the hardwood, back in 2021. Those changes came along with the removal of the Arena's gold seats, which were replaced with black ones.
Prior to those 2021 upgrades, the last renovation to come to Norm Stewart Court was in 2017, when it sustained damage in a vandalism incident, where a vehicle drove onto the hardwood. That resulted in about $100,000 in damage.
