The government funding fight in Washington, D.C., has taken away some of the spectacle from Saturday's Missouri football game against Alabama.

Mizzou Athletics said in a social media post Friday that a planned military flyover before No. 14 Missouri's showdown against No. 8 Alabama at Memorial Stadium will not take place because of the ongoing federal government shutdown.

The ROTC Cannon Crew will not be at the game, either, the post states.

"We’re proud to share that the Missouri State Highway Patrol will serve as Saturday’s pregame color guard. We appreciate their support and look forward to honoring them at Memorial Stadium," the post says.

The shutdown began Oct. 1 after the Senate's Republican majority failed to pass a spending bill to keep the government open. Most federal workers are not being paid during the shutdown.

Military members could miss a paycheck next week if Congress doesn't reach a deal.

Kickoff for Missouri vs. Alabama is scheduled for 11 a.m. The game will be broadcast on ABC.
