Thousands lose power in Boone County as storm rolls through

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A strong storm knocked out power to more than a thousand customers in the Columbia area as it rolled through Friday.

As of 7 p.m., the Columbia Water and Light outage map reported 2,051 customers without power, with the largest concentrations in south and west Columbia.

Boone Electric Cooperative reported more than 2,014 customers with no power in the central part of Boone County.

Ameren Missouri reported 257 customers without power in the Hallsville area.

At 6:41 p.m. Boone County Joint Communications reported a closure of Highway NN just north of Highway 124 near Harrisburg due to power poles down in the road.

The storm comes as the risk of severe weather will continue for much of Friday night in mid-Missouri.
