Royals fall for fourth time in six games in series loss to the Twins

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (KMIZ)
Just when the Royals were getting back into striking distance of a Wild Card spot, Kansas City went on a less-than-desirable run this past week. On Sunday, skipper Matt Quatraro and company fell for the fourth time in six games in a 5-3 loss to the Minnesota Twins in rubber match action.
Thanks to a game-tying RBI single off the bat of Ryan Jeffers in the eighth inning, this game stretched all the way the 11th, which is when Minnesota's Luke Keaschall called game. The second baseman hit a two-run homer off of closer Carlos Estevez for the win in walk-off fashion. Keaschall ended the day going 3-for-5.
After the team lost a one-run lead early on in the game, Royals star Vinnie Pasquantino put his team in front, once again, in the seventh. He knocked out his 20th home run of the season for the lead, but that effort ended up being to no avail.
The loss marks just the fourth time in 50 games that KC has fallen when leading after seven frames.
Up next - the Royals will return home to host the Washington Nationals on Monday, August 11. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m.
