Harrison Mevis signs with New York Jets

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (KMIZ)

Mizzou Football's all-time scoring leader is getting another opportunity with an NFL team.

On Wednesday, the New York Jets officially announced that the franchise has signed kicker Harrison Mevis to the team's active roster.

The former All-American kicker was waived by the Carolina Panthers last offseason after signing with the franchise as an undrafted free agent at the conclusion of the 2024 NFL Draft. However, Mevis took his talents to the United Football League (UFL) and established himself as one of its top specialists. He converted 20 of 21 field goals with the Birmingham Stallions and finished 5-for-6 in attempts from 50+ yards this season.

Mevis was a four-year starter at Mizzou, who connected on 86 of his 103 career field goal attempts (83.50%). The two-time Lou Groza Award semifinalist owns the most all-time field goals in school history and the SEC's longest-ever field goal. Mevis broke the conference record by converting a 61-yard field goal as time expired against Kansas State during the 2023 season.

The 'Thiccer Kicker' is reuniting with his former teammates offensive lineman Armand Membou and quarterback Brady Cook, who are both with the New York Jets organization.
