Mizzou Soccer elevates assistant to associate head coach

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Mizzou Soccer has named another associate head coach for the upcoming season.
On Wednesday, head coach Stefanie Golan promoted Kelsey Wys to associate head coach after three seasons with the team. Golan also hired West Georgia's Renee Horton to serve the same position, just one day prior.
Wys has served as an assistant coach on Golan's staff since the 2022 season, helping coach five All-SEC selections and guiding the team to a 15-27-9 overall record.
Most recently, she helped mentor Milena Fischer and Kylee Simmons into All-SEC honorees over the last two seasons. Fischer, a 2024 All-SEC Third-Team selection, recorded six goals and one assist last season. Simmons, a 2023 All-SEC First-Team honoree, led the SEC in points and goals during her award-winning campaign.
Before joining Golan's coaching staff, Wys spent two seasons as an assistant at Appalachian State. She helped lead the Mountaineers to nine shutouts during her two-year tenure as the team's goalkeepers coach.
As a player, Wys was a four-year starter at Florida State where she was part of a pair of ACC titles (2011 & 2013) and a second place finish in the NCAA Tournament (2013). The Florida native also competed at the professional level in the NWSL and internationally in Iceland.
Golan and her new-look coaching staff are striving to surpass the five-win threshold in a single year for the first time since the 2021 season. Mizzou has finished with just five victories in each of its last three campaigns.
