Tracking storms to end the week and a cool start to the weekend

TODAY: Friday is an ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day for a chance of strong storms this afternoon. Storms this morning will bring locally heavy rain alongside lightning and thunder. We'll have a wet start to the day, but drier conditions are expected by late morning. Another round of storms is expected in the afternoon, and with these, a strong storm or two is possible. Temperatures between rounds will try to reach the upper 80s to low 90s. Rain chances in the afternoon are low in the west and much higher in the east.

TONIGHT: The afternoon and evening round will clear through the dinner hour, leaving us clear of any strong storms well before midnight. More clouds and showers fill in from the north overnight, leaving us cloudy with a chance for showers at sunrise on Saturday.

EXTENDED: Clouds look persistent on Saturday and may keep most of us overcast and cool through the day. Showers will also be possible through Saturday east of Highway 63. This keeps us in the 70s in many locations, but possibly in the 60s at the warmest, at locations near Hermann and Montgomery City. Sunnier and warmer conditions are expected Sunday well into next week.
