Mizzou beats Georgia, posts season-best team score

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

No. 8 Mizzou Gymnastics has defeated No. 12 Georgia for a 10th straight meet.

The Tigers (11-3) out-performed the Bulldogs (4-5) at the Hearnes Center, earning a 197.425-197.350 win. Friday night's score was MU's highest of the 2025 season and extended its streak of 197.150+ team performances to five straight meets.

Head Coach Shannon Welker's group crowned individual champions in three of the four events. Helen Hu won the beam title with a 9.975 performance, marking her fourth 9.975+ routine of the year. Hannah Horton was the outright winner on vault with a 9.925 score, which tied her career-best on that apparatus. Finally, Amari Celestine earned the floor title with her second straight 9.950 routine in that event, clinching the meet's All-Around honors in the process with an overall 29.775 score.

MU and UGA held a narrow 147.875-147.800 lead after three rotations and entered each team's final routine with identical team scores. However, fresh off becoming the sixth gymnast in program history to post a perfect score, Kennedy Griffin sealed the win with a 9.925 floor routine. Griffin, Celestine and Elise Tisler each recorded a 9.925+ floor routine to guide the Tigers to a meet-best 49.550 in that event.

Mizzou also tied its season-high score on bars with a 49.425 overall performance. Celestine (9.925), Addison Lawrence (9.900) and Mara Titarsolej (9.900) highlighted MU's five gymnasts who each hit a 9.850+ score.

Up next - The Tigers hit the road for a top-eight clash with No. 5 Florida in Gainesville. First touch on Friday, Feb. 28 is scheduled for 5 p.m.
