President-elect Donald Trump and his adviser Elon Musk are yet to officially assume power.
Yet last week they exercised a great deal of it in the negotiations over funding the government.
Some Republicans killed a bipartisan deal struck in the House on Musk's encouragement, then killed a second deal that Trump helped authorize.
Both Houses ended up passing funding deals before the midnight deadline Friday but not before plenty of headaches.
