Drinkwitz grabs a top running back transfer out of the portal
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Mizzou football coach Eli Drinkwitz is on an absolute heater where the transfer portal is concerned.
He's brought in quite a bit of defensive talent since the portal opened up, but now he's adding to the offensive side.
Former University of Louisiana-Monroe running back Ahmad Hardy committed to Mizzou on Wednesday night. He was considered the No. 1 running back available in the portal by On3 and the No. 4 back available by 247sports. In 2024, he racked up 1,351 yards and 13 touchdowns on 237 carries. He also forced 94 missed tackles in his debut collegiate season. He's also effective in the passing game, though. Hardy had 72 yards on eight receptions out of the backfield.
Hardy will have three years of eligibility to use with the Tigers.
The commitment came at a perfect time for Coach Drink, as he had just lost his true freshman running back to the transfer portal. All in the same day, freshman Kewan Lacy entered the transfer portal, then announced he was committing to Ole Miss and then signed with Ole Miss.
Hardy will join a running back room that includes St. Louis native Jamal Roberts, Tavorus Jones, as well as four-star recruit Marquise Davis and three-star Brendon Haygood, who will join the team in 2025.
This marks the sixth transfer that Coach Drinkwitz has locked down since the transfer portal opened up. Hardy is the second offensive addition, alongside star ex-Mississippi State wide receiver Kevin Coleman.
