Columbia Parks and Recreation to assess flooded parks Friday

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia Parks and Recreation posted on it's social media that they will be sending crews to assess and clear park property Friday morning.

Several parks such as the Scott Boulevard entrance of the MKT Trail was blocked by water, covering the football field and part of the Jay Dix Station playground. Other parks like Twin Lakes Park saw less damage with people finding paths around the water.

Parks and Rec said several sections of multi-use, destination trails and selected parking lots as of 6 p.m. Thursday were still flooded.

It is suggested that you do. not attempt to walk or cycle through flooded trail areas. What looks like standing water may have moving water or deep holes beneath the surface.

Parks and Rec said it will continue to monitor city parks as water recedes and will send out updates on their Facebook page.
