Multiple fires reported near Business Loop 70 in Columbia since December

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Another fire broke out on Business Loop 70 in Columbia on Friday morning, this time leaving one fire fighter injured with non-life-threatening injuries.

Fire marshals are investigating the cause and origin of Friday morning’s fire, according to a press release from the Columbia Fire Department.

Friday’s fire was one of multiple fires reported near Business Loop since Dec. 12, when a reported arson occurred at a storage unit in the 300 block of Nebraska Avenue. More than $100,000 of damage was reported in the fire. No injuries were reported.

On March 22, a fire was reported in the old Plush Lounge location. No injuries were reported.

Dimetrious Woods owns Woods Auto Spa, that is near the old Plush Lounge and described how he felt the day of the fire.

“(The fire is) definitely a concern being close to my building that morning, I was up at 6 in the morning, coming to check and hoping and praying all the way in. Found that it wasn't our business or our food trailer. So definitely a local concern,” Woods said.

ABC 17 News reached out to the Business Loop Community Improvement District.
