Tracking a massive cool down with snow overnight, bitterly cold wind chills

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy and windy with a chance for a few showers that change to snow late, leaving a dusting to 1/2" of snow. No road impacts are expected. Lows fall into the low 20s with gusty winds bringing wind chills down to around 10 degrees.

TOMORROW: Bitterly cold temperatures in the morning with wind chills between 8 and 12 degrees. Gusty and bright with highs in the upper 30s.

EXTENDED: A strong cold front moves into the Midwest tonight, bringing a chance for a few showers and storms, especially along I-44. Temperatures fall down to the freezing mark before midnight. Snow showers move in behind the front, leaving a dusting to a half inch of accumulation on the grass. No road impacts are expected, but frigid temperatures will take hold by morning as lows fall into the low to mid-20s. Wind chills will drop to around 8 to 10 degrees above zero, with sunshine and highs in the upper 30s. We gradually warm back up on Thursday after a cold morning, with afternoon temperatures in the lower 50s. A disturbance sliding by to our south on Thursday night could bring a few showers, but rain will likely exit by sunrise on Friday. Highs reach the lower 60s to end the week. The weekend is looking breezy and beautiful with highs in the low to mid-70s on Saturday and Sunday.
