City Council to discuss adding restaurant in Columbia airport

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Columbia Airport is looking to add a restaurant.

The Columbia City Council meets Monday to discuss a possible airport restaurant agreement with Blue Ribbon Vending, LLC to lease the terminal, according to the council agenda.

To lease the Columbia Regional Airport terminal, it would be $24,313 per year for five years.

Blue Ribbon Vending is looking to lease 1,874.5 square feet that will include a market and restaurant with counters and will provide service in two phases.

Phase one would be the market area using "Just Walk Out" technology. Meaning people can enter the area, take what they need, and leave creating a easy shopping experience.

Phase two will be the restaurant area, where there will be a food menu available as soon as a kitchen is built. So far there is no set timetable for these phases.

If the city council agrees on adding a restaurant to the Columbia Regional Airport, Blue Ribbon Vending would pay the city $24,313 when both the market and the restaurant area are open.
