Tracking mostly dry conditions each day as intense summer heat returns

TODAY: I'm tracking mostly dry and sunny conditions, except for haze from wildfire smoke, out the door this morning as temperatures begin in the upper 60s and low 70s. By the afternoon hours, temperatures will warm into the upper 80s, with humidity making it feel closer to the mid-90s, as winds gradually shift into the southeast at 5-10 mph.

TONIGHT: I'm tracking mostly dry conditions until closer to the end of the night, when isolated showers and storms could be possible to the north of I-70. Temperatures are expected to drop into the low 70s by the end of the night as winds blow out of the south at 8-12 mph.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking another dry but hotter day ahead for Sunday as temperatures by the afternoon hours warm into the low 90s, with humidity making it feel closer to 100-105. These conditions are expected to continue for both Monday and Tuesday, which has triggered an extreme heat watch during this time frame. Due to these dangerously hot conditions Sunday through Tuesday, a set of ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Days has been issued. Minimal rain chances are expected during this time frame, but by Wednesday, slightly higher chances of showers and storms will arrive. Chances will increase throughout Thursday and Friday, and with this, relief from the heat can be expected as temperatures cool into the low 80s to end the week.
