COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Columbia Public Schools bus was involved in an accident Tuesday near Providence Road, north of Business Loop 70.

CPS spokesperson Michelle Baumstark said in an email that the crash occurred around 3:15 p.m.

Baumstark later said in a second email that 40 West Middle School students were on the bus and that one student was taken to an area hospital "as a precaution." She said all other passengers and the driver did not have injuries and that a second bus arrived to complete the route.

Baumstark described the crash as "a minor accident.

Multiple police vehicles were on the scene. A vehicle was seen in front of the bus and behind it. An ambulance was also seen by an ABC 17 News reporter, but the ambulance left the scene without its emergency lights on.

Two tow trucks were seen around before 3:40 p.m. and an SUV was being towed. Another large truck began attempting to tow the bus at 3:47 p.m.

An ABC 17 News report saw students on the scene, as well as a second bus.
