Columbia man seriously hurt in motorcycle crash Sunday afternoon

BOONE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Columbia man was seriously hurt after a motorcycle crash in Boone County Sunday afternoon.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the crash at 3:40 p.m. on I-70 eastbound at the 116 mile mark.

Troopers said, 51-year-old Steve Coats was on a motorcycle when he turned in front of the pick-up truck.

He was then thrown from the motorcycle and taken to University Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver up the pick-up truck was not hurt, the Highway Patrol said.

Coats was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to the crash report.
