Columbia man suffers serious injuries in Boone County crash

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Two people were hospitalized and a van ended up on its top Monday after a three-vehicle crash on Route VV in Boone County.

The crash happened in the 6900 block of Route VV, north of Columbia. Boone County emergency dispatchers sent an alert at about 9:30 a.m. warning drivers to avoid the crash.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Eric Williamson, 52, suffered serious injuries when his work van was hit by an SUV that didn't yield at Route VV and Mauller Road. The SUV driver, Deborah Carlson, 64, of Columbia, was not hurt.

The impact sent the van across the centerline where it hit a sedan, the highway patrol report says. The sedan driver, Isaac Hollis, 25, of Columbia, suffered minor injuries. Hollis and Williamson were taken by ambulance to University Hospital.

An ABC 17 News reporter at the scene saw three vehicles, including a white van on its top. One lane of the highway was closed and Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers were directing traffic. The scene was cleared by about 10:30 a.m.

The two people taken by ambulance to a hospital suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, first responders said.
